Joséphine Baker and Air France

Published on - November 30th, 2021 — La saga

Singer, actress, dancer and French Résistance fighter, Joséphine is the 6th woman to be interred at the Panthéon in Paris.

Born in 1906 in Missouri, she adopted France as her home in 1925. And today, as a tribute to her outstanding life and career, it is the turn of France to honour her.

In these photos from the Air France collection, taken from the book "stars on the jetway", Joséphine is portrayed flying with some of the French operators that later merged to become Air France, Lignes Farman, Air Union and of course, Air France.
